What to Know Before Attending Class

  • Refrain from eating 2 to 3 hours prior to class
  • Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.
  • If you choose, you may complete an on-line New Student Form and submit it before your first visit.
  • Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely.
  • Please turn off cell phones and pagers prior to class.
  • We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat, however, we do have a limited number of mats to borrow.
  • Optional: bring a towel, block, strap, blanket, eye pillow, bolster or anything else you use to enhance your yoga practice.

Snow/Weather Policy

Mon-Fri: If Plymouth/Canton Schools are closed due to weather, evolve yoga studio will not hold morning yoga classes.  Evening classes may still be held.  Call 734-454-YOGA for updates throughout the day.

Sat-Sun: We will report class status on our phone message.  Call 734-454-YOGA.

Class Information

All of our regular classes at evolve yoga are on a walk-in basis, so there is no need to pre-register for classes unless otherwise noted.  Simply walk into our studio about 10-15 minutes prior to the class you would like to take!

Basic Yoga

This class is appropriate for beginners as well as more experienced students of yoga. The focus is on learning yoga postures in a supportive environment with ample direction and/or hands-on adjustments. This is a yoga practice suitable for all levels of experience.

Basic Flow Yoga

We will combine sustained basic yoga postures, with flowing posture sequences to create this energizing class. You will follow the rhythm of your own breath as we move through the postures. Come, have fun--breath and rejuvenate.

Beyond Basics

This is a dynamic yoga class merging biomechanical alignment principles with a vigorous, flowing practice.  This class is suitable for those with some yoga experience.

Prenatal Yoga

Yoga is an excellent exercise option anytime but especially during pregnancy. This class is open to female students, pregnant or not. The practice of yoga can help soothe aches and pains, reduce stress, teach you to relax and help prepare your body and mind for the stresses of daily life and/or the upcoming events of labor and delivery and the demands of motherhood. The focus of this class is on preparing for these events, releasing tension, maintaining good posture, learning to relax on command, keeping a positive outlook, and clearing the mind of stress and anxiety. No prior yoga experience necessary.

Private Yoga Sessions

Individual yoga therapy or private sessions are available.  Please contact us for further details.

Restorative Flow Yoga

This class offers a luxurious practice that encourages students to slow down and notice the subtle changes that occur within. This class offers a deep nourishing experience which activates the body's natural healing abilities. Postures are done one after the other in gentle flowing movements. Who are the students for this style of yoga? Those who want to deeply relax or relieve stress; those with illnesses such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, or arthritis; those with limited range of motion; seniors; and those wanting a contemplative practice.

Rise and Shine Yoga

Start your day by saluting the sun in this early morning yoga practice.  We will practice a variety of yoga postures and breath work to develop strength, balance and flexibility to enhance the mind-body connection.  You will leave feeling energized and nourished ready to face the day ahead. 

Slow Flow Vinyasa

Slow Flow Vinyasa is a dynamic but slowed-down yoga practice with special attention paid to moving in and out of postures on the rhythm of your own breath. This is a flowing yoga practice that is suitable for all levels of experience.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa is a dynamic, flowing yoga practice with special attention paid to moving in and out of postures on the rhythm of your own breath. This is a vigorous practice suitable for those with some yoga experience.

Vipasana Meditation

These sessions are lead by teachers from Deep Spring Center in Ann Arbor. Insight meditation, or, traditionally, Vipassana meditation, from the Theravadin Buddhist Tradition will be taught. Insight meditation is a simple and direct practice: moment to moment investigation of the mind/body process through calm, focused awareness. Through this practice we increase our ability to be fully present in this moment. The format for these sittings will be a series of short instructions, followed by sitting in silence and then sharing on the experience. The practice includes no religious ritual and requires no special religious beliefs.

Yoga at the Wall

Yoga poses at the wall help with stretching, balancing, and strengthing.  The wall creates external resistance, simultaneously it increases mechanical leverage to optimize both stretching and strength building.  The wall gives needed support, taking fear out of the equation.  This class is appropriate for beginners to more advanced students.
